After reading ‘The Last Bear’ by Hannah Gold, Year 5 were inspired to become courageous advocates and support the need for change. They created posters which were displayed around school, wrote a letter to Mr. Mills stating changes they thought could be made in school and created a ‘Tree of Promise’. They each made a promise to help tackle environmental issues. Year 5 led assemblies with KS1 and KS2, explaining how they could all help. The speeches were written in their English lessons to encourage everyone to make their own pledge.
